Tempt myself with the sweet mistress of sin—the city In her lighted glory.

Physicians of powder and paper tabs.
Eyes glazed on pretty pills.
Happy hour cocktails that never taste quite the same.
Cheap Chinese cigarettes on a cloud of green and grey.

And Sphinx of a city smiles on, with ticking eyes on a time bomb called this ordinary life.
