Someone else’s story

Jane Austen gave Anne Elliot the pen in Persuasion: “Men have had every advantage of us in telling their own story. Education has been theirs in so much higher a degree.”

My brain misread this (most likely with an agenda) as:

Men have had every advantage of telling us in their own story.

It got me thinking about the length of history being recounted through someone else’s lens. And that it’s high time we tell our own.

So here’s to you Atwood, Tan, Allende, Lee, Angelou and to so many more of you!

The pen is in our hands.

Welcome to my blog about travel and humanity, where the two join hands to send a message: that we all want to say the same thing. The purpose of this blog is twofold: to give a crazy mind a canvas, and to touch somebody's truth.
